Basic 3D Man

Started as a box, which I formed into a shoe and finally became a cartoony man. 3D is so time consuming...
Project time: 4 hours

Note to self:
Box > Edit Poly > Symmetry > Mesh Smooth (2 iterations)
Created half the body with vertex points at the center of the body set to 0 on the x-axis. When mirrored in Symmetry modifier over the x-axis, the points weld together automatically and perfectly.

Basic 3D Rabbit

Don't judge me... I'm going back to basics since I haven't touched 3D in a while...
Project time: 2 hours

Note to self
It's difficult to map textures to the model without using details in the polygon model as a reference.

3D Animation Progress (07/01/2009)

NEW Video of mr daylight animation, things are looking good!

Old video of Mental Ray's Daylight system (October 2008):

3D Animation Progress (06/30/2009)

It's been a while since I touched this project due to frustration, but the release of Jeff Lew's new Killer Bean Forever has sparked major inspiration.

Here is where I left off back in October 2008:

06/30/2009 - Single mr Daylight system, adjusted shadow setting and mr photographic exposure control of ISO, shutter, f-stop:

06/30/2009 - Adjusted mr photographic exposure control of ISO, shutter, f-stop:

06/30/2009 - Changed to LOGARITHMIC exposure control:

06/30/2009 - Changed to LINEAR exposure control with Skylight using HDR image for environment map. Looks pretty good, but Mental Ray threw up a whole bunch of errors:

06/30/2009 - Changed back to mr PHOTOGRAPIC exposure control due to Mental Ray incompatiblities with LINEAR:

06/30/2009 - Frame 202, adjusted exposure control (midtone 0.31, shadows 1, saturation 1.233, vignetting 10, whitepoint8383:

06/30/2009 - Frame 160. Happily satisfied with the look.

I will post a look at my render settings shortly, as no one else in the 3D community likes to share.

If people shared their settings, others wouldn't get frustrated and cease some potentially awesome animations from being produced!
